With football season all but done, we now have basketball and baseball to look forward to now. But while you attend your favorite sporting event, did you know that according to some new research, 1-in-12 fans leaving a sporting event is intoxicated.

After measuring the blood alcohol content of 382 adults following 13 baseball games and three football games, researchers from the University of Minnesota found 8 percent of fans surveyed had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher, the legal intoxication limit.  They also discovered those who had tailgated before a game were 14 times more likely to leave the game drunk.

The study was released in the April edition of The Journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research.
