As we approach the 2018 NFL regular season, kneeling is still a hot topic in the league.

UPDATE: The NFL owners have unanimously approved a new national anthem policy, this according to ESPN.

As NFL owners meet during the offseason they continue to discuss rule changes and ways to improve the league. In addition to modifying the kickoff for player safety owners are reportedly debating what to do about players who kneel during the national anthem.

According to a report from Albert Breer of the NFL Network,

Under the proposal, the home team would have the option to decide whether teams come out to the field for the anthem. Teams would then be penalized 15 yards if a player chooses to kneel.

Protests during the anthem have made headlines for the past two NFL seasons since Colin Kaepernick began kneeling back in 2016. On the upside, it has definitely opened up a very important conversation surrounding racial injustice in America. On the downside, some fans have boycotted the NFL, stating that they don't want to see these social issues mixed into their sports.

What do you think about the league possibly penalizing players for kneeling or demonstrating in protest of social injustice?
