ACADIA PARISH, La. (KPEL) -- The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is warning residents of continuing rising waters, a scenario made more complicated as more wet weather is forecasted for the weekend.

Sheriff's office officials say anyone needing help to evacuate is urged to call 911.

Officials say boats are on standby.

According to meteorologist Roger Erickson with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, winds will start picking up later Saturday. Two to three inches of rain is expected across parts of southwest and central Louisiana.

"The rain may taper off at some point during the day on Sunday," Erickson says, "but it is expected to return Sunday night and continue for another day or two as the front stalls out near our coast."

Severe weather is possible Saturday evening into Saturday night, Erickson says.
