#AltonSterling: Baton Rouge Police, Mayor Kip Holden Address Shooting, Reveal Names Of Officers Involved [VIDEO]

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden and the Baton Rouge Police Department held a press conference to address the fatal officer-involved shooting of Alton Sterling.

Baton Rouge police spoke with the media and revealed the names of the two officers involved in the shooting that claimed the life of Alton Sterling. 4-year-veteran Blane Salamoni and 3-year-veteran Howie Lake II are the two officers involved.

Both officers were placed on paid administrative leave as of Tuesday morning.

BRPD Police Chief Carl Dabadie, Jr. referred to the shooting as a tragedy and said that much like the general public, the he is looking for answers.

Like you, there is a lot that we do not understand. And at this point, like you, I am demanding answers.

Mayor-President Kip Holden was also present at the press conference and cautioned against political statements, asking residents to remain "peaceful" while the ongoing investigation ran its course.

Earlier today, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards announced that the Department Of Justice Civil Rights Division will be leading the investigation with the help of the FBI and Louisiana State Police. Dabadie ensured the investigation will be "transparent and independent."

Holden also revealed that he received calls of support from the President's office and the Mayor of Baltimore—a city that has their own issues with police brutality reach a national spotlight.

The video above also concludes with dispatch audio, containing the initial 911 call that brought police out to the Triple S convenience store and the audio of officers announcing "shots fired" and asking for assistance from EMS.
