According to numerous reports, singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London apartment. Her death has been confirmed with local police. The cause of her death is currently unknown, but many would speculate that the cause of death would be drug related due to the singers very public substance abuse history.

The Metropolitan Police released an official statement, but Winehouse is not named in their report that reads:

Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.
On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.

Just last month, Winehouse cancelled her European concerts after an embarrassing performance in Serbia. The troubled singer then checked out of rehab in early June after barely one week of treatment.

Winehouse joins other artists like Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix who also died at age 27. This group is occasionally referred to as "The 27 Club."
