Travi$ Scott got us all with the sneak attack today (Sept. 2) when he dropped his sophomore album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight with little to no notice. After numerous delays and built-up anticipation, Scott premiered the LP's tracklist and songs live on .wav radio and then released the music to public on iTunes with one fell swoop. Features on the album from the Grand Hustle/Epic signee include Andre 3000 on "The Ends," Kid Cudi on "Through the Night" and Kendrick Lamar on "Goosebumps."

As fans of Travi$ Scott rejoice at the news of a new album from La Flame, the Houston producer/rapper chatted with Billboard about how some of these amazing collabs on the album came together. As it turns out 3 Stacks was actually meant to narrate Travi$' album, but liked "The Ends" so much, he decided to contribute a verse instead.

"I was gonna have [Andre 3000] narrate the album but he ended up doing a verse and I was surprised," explained Travi$. "I ain’t even know."

As for K. Dot, Trav says the two rappers met organically at an award show and then built their relationship from there.

"I met him at the [MTV Video Music Awards] one year and he came up to me and was just like, "Yo, man, I f--k with your music. It’s super dope and inspirational." I was like, whoa, this is the best rapper in the globe -- he f--ks with my music!"

And the LP's unconventional title, Travi$ admitted, actually came from a lyric courtesy of Migos member Quavo. Notice Quavo spits the line during his verse on "Pick Up The Phone."

"Young Quavius was rapping, bouncing off ideas, and I was letting him know the story and the vibe of my album so when he was doing his verse, dude just says “Birds in the trap sing Brian McKnight.” I ran in the booth and I was like, “Bro, this is it!”

Stream and download Birds now on iTunes to hear these all stellar collabs come to fruition.
