Another local Acadiana restaurant is closing its doors.

Midway on the Square's final day open will be New Year's Eve. Restaurant management posted the following on their Facebook page:

Good morning everyone. As much as it saddens me to say this will be our last week open with the grand finale on Monday night. Come in and enjoy great dinner and lunch specials as well as great prices on wine and drinks. We hope to see everyone one last time before we close. It has been a pleasure serving all of our customers while we were open. - Midway on the Square, Facebook

Located on Magdalen Square in Abbeville, the 100+-year-old building that houses Midway on the Square started out as a restaurant: "The Midway". The Midway was THE happening place in Downtown Abbeville. The building's next tenant was the El Camino restaurant. After El Camino was moved to the By-pass, the building sat idle for more than 13 years before it was purchased, refurbished, and opened as "Midway on the Square", its name giving a nod to the original tenant.

It's sad to see another local restaurant going away.
