A$AP Rocky recently found out the hard way why most big actors use stunt doubles. During the filming of the new movie, Monster, which the Harlem rapper plays a role in, he broke his nose during a fight scene.

Monster, which is an adaptation of a Walter Dean Meyers book about a NYC teen that finds himself locked up on serious charges, premiered at Sundance Film Festival last week. During an interview with Collider, Pretty Flacko and director Anthony Mandler talked about the especially intense scene.

“So Rocky plays King, and John David Washington plays Bobo, and they are the antagonists of the film," explains Mandler. "Because we’re making a small movie and because we have method actors, they did the robbery and all their stunts, which is like a vicious fight scene. So the gentleman who plays the bodega owner who gets murdered is a very big, tough guy. Like a Spanish, uptown, 260-pound [guy]. So [Rocky] and John David come in and we just go, and it’s a full-bore wrestling fight with a gun flying all over the place, and actually on one of the takes Rocky broke his nose.”

The accident occurred with bad timing. “I had like a Vogue shoot like two days later," Rocky added. “A few hours later that night I had a good headache.”

The A$AP Mob member continues to expand his acting portfolio. After making his debut as Dom in the 2015 film, Dope, he had a roles as himself in Zoolander 2 in 2016 and the mockumentary, Pop Star: Never Stop, Never Stopping, the same year. He's also done voice-over work on HBO's Animals.

Currently, Monster does not have a nationwide release date.
