After plenty of delays, Lil Wayne swears he’s finally releasing ‘Tha Carter IV’ — and he’ll celebrate the album’s August 29 debut with a performance at the MTV VMAs the night before.
Thanks to some information shared by his manager during a recent Billboard interview, Lil Wayne is the first confirmed performer for the 2011 ceremony. After so many bumps in the road, Wayne doesn’t need any additional incentive to get the record out on time, but now he can look forward to a nice post-VMA sales bump.
When you think of Snoop Dogg gardening, a very specific type of herb probably comes to mind — but as it turns out, the veteran rapper is actually an all-around green thumb enthusiast, and he’s donating some studio time to prove it.
Snoop is hosting an auction to help raise money for Urban Growing, an organization dedicated to expanding the growing urban gardening movement. The prize? The chance to sit in with Snoop during a studio session (and catch a ride to the studio in a “pimped-out car,” of course).
Ogling strippers is kind of like eating Twinkies — it’s awesome in theory, and fun for a minute or two, but ultimately, all you’re going home with is an empty feeling and a touch of regret.
That’s the moral of the story for Enrique Iglesias’ new video, ‘Dirty Dancer,’ which drives the point home with cameos from Usher and Lil Wayne — not to mention plenty of world-class pole dancing from a bevy of beauties that our trio can look at, but never touch. As the song says, the dancers are “never ever lonely”…and none of the guys will ever “be her only.”
After more than a decade as a fixture on top of the charts, Beyoncé certainly has more than enough of her own hits to fill a concert set list, and she doesn’t need to go covering anyone else’s — but who are we to argue if she decides to put her own inimitable spin on a rock ‘n’ roll classic or two?
Currently on tour to promote her latest solo album, ’4,’ Beyoncé used her June 20 stop in Nice, France, to break out a cover medley that included Kings of Leon’s ‘Sex on Fire,’ Prince’s ‘The Beautiful Ones,’ and — perhaps most surprisingly — Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ Though she flubbed a couple of lines, it was still an interesting experiment (and it’s always nice to see pop singers proving they’re actually performing live).
Despite initial reports that Clemons was responding well to treatment – and despite a pair of brain surgeries to repair the damage wrought by the stroke – his condition worsened as the week wore on, and he died on Saturday, June 18.
