When a death of a beloved music artist happens, it’s not unusual for his or her music catalog to see a bump in sales. In the case of Adam Yauch, aka MCA, of the Beastie Boys, digital sales of the trio’s albums skyrocketed on iTunes.

According to MTV News, fans went on the digital music service this past weekend and downloaded several of the group’s most celebrated albums. The Beastie Boys’ 1986 classic debut LP ‘Licensed to Ill’ moved up to No. 3 on the iTunes album chart, while their follow-up, the 1989 sample-heavy masterpiece ‘Paul’s Boutique’ rose to No. 13.

Other albums that garnered a sales surge included their 1999 anthology ‘The Sounds of Science’ (No. 26), 1994′s ‘Ill Communication’ (No. 27), 1992′s ‘Check Your Head’ (No. 38) and their final album ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two’ (No. 42). If these digital sales are any indication, there’s a likelihood that some of these albums will reach the upper echelons of the Billboard 200 chart this week.

In the end, it’s a testament to Beastie Boys’ enduring musical legacy and how much the fans love and miss Adam “MCA” Yauch.
