Big Sean Covers Complex Magazine, Talks ‘Dark Sky Paradise’ Album & His Relationship With the Ladies
Big Sean is starting off the year strong. The Detroit native lands on the cover of Complex magazine's February/March issue and gives details on his third album, 'Dark Sky Paradise,' on the year's highly-anticipated releases.
In his Complex cover story, the 26-year-old talked about everything from dating actress Naya Rivera to working on his new album to why he released the song 'Control,' which contains that controversial Kendrick Lamar verse.
"Looking back on it, it was a different vibe than my album," he said about the song. "There's a lot of negativity on that song, and I don't f--- with negative s---. People love drama, people love bulls---. I knew when Kendrick did that name-dropping, that it was just gonna set it off... I never wanna shade anybody. I would've been a ho-ass n---- if I cut that out of his verse, or if I didn't put the song out."
And as far as the former 'Glee' actress, who Sean was engaged to, he said they spent a lot of time arguing, which was the reason for their breakup. He also addressed the accusation that he stole a Rolex watch from her.
"First of all, why would I have to steal a Rolex" he asked. "Second of all, every Rolex that I have, I have receipts for, papers for, certificates of authenticity for. I would never steal a Rolex from anybody. You see that tweet got deleted in like 20 seconds."
Additionally, the Detroit spitter talked about his new flame Ariana Grande. According to the MC, they're completely inseparable.
As for his forthcoming LP, 'Dark Sky Paradise' was mainly created in his newly purchased Hollywood Hills Home. He feels it's his most personal album to date. However, Sean admits that he's still searching for his sound and is looking to one of his producers for help. "I feel like there is a sound," he stated. "Key Wane is instrumental to that."
'Dark Sky Paradise' has no set release date yet. You can read Big Sean's complete Complex interview here.
