BJ The Chicago Kid Sings the National Anthem at President Obama’s Farewell Speech

Yesterday (Jan. 10), BJ The Chicago Kid sang the national anthem at President Barack Obama's farewell speech in Chicago.

The 32-year-old artist set the stage for Obama's 50-minute speech by delivering a tremendous rendition of the anthem, which you can watch above via YouTube. Donning a sharp blue suit, BJ gave a soulful performance at McCormick Place in his hometown.

BJ also posted the clip to his Instagram, adding the caption, "Thank you to President Obama, and his entire administration for allowing me to be apart of such a historic moment. I am honored, and beyond grateful. #obamafarewell #chicago #bjthechicagokid."

In other BJ-related news, the "Studio" singer recently dropped his The Lost Files: Cuffing Season mixtape, which features nine tracks with no features.

BJ is being recognized for his hard work. He recently received three Grammy nominations for Best R&B Performance (“Turnin’ Me Up”), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Woman’s World”), and Best R&B Album (In My Mind).

The Windy City crooner has also been on TV a bunch as of late. He performed “The Waters” alongside Anderson .Paak at the 2016 Soul Train Awards, and, prior to that, he went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and performed “Black America Again” with Common.
