The Boy Scouts of America has announced that they will be changing its name.

Now that females will be allowed to participate in the program/group the Boy Scouts of America will be called: Scouts BSA.

The name still reflects it's past but also includes its new inclusion in the program. Girls will be allowed to join the scouts next year, while Cub Scouts have already allowed girls to join their program. For the record, the Cub Scouts program will NOT be changing its name.

I have read in numerous publications that I get that the number of kids in scouting has dropped in recent years. Now, speaking as an "Eagle Scout" I will say that there is no better program out there for kids than scouting.

Now with that said, will this name change help scouting rebound or will it deter more from joining? We will have to wait and see.

The "Boy Scouts of America" has been around for over 100 years and has always gone by that name, until now. I do ask, how do you feel about this? Let me know in the comment section below.
