A Brazilian Police official has told the Associated Press the entire story of Ryan Lochte and three teammates being robbed at gunpoint is a lie.

Two of Lochte's teammates, Jack Conger and Gunner Bentz were pulled off a plane Wednesday before it could leave for the US and, under questioning, said the robbery story was fabricated, according to the official.

The official said at around 6am, the swimmers stopped at a gas station to use the restroom but found the door locked.  The swimmers pushed on the door and broke it.  A security guard then confronted them.  The manager arrived and asked the swimmers to pay for the damages and he was paid an undisclosed amount.

One official told the New York Times the swimmers told "one lie after another."
