Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team returns to the gridiron on Saturday afternoon, when coach Mark Hudspeth’s squad travels to Boone, North Carolina to take on Appalachian St. Mountaineers in a Sun Belt Conference contest.

For Louisiana, it will be their final road game of the season.

The Cajun Harley Davidson Tailgate show begins at 11 am on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, with the rest of the network, including Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, joining the broadcast in time for the Hampton Toyota Pregame Show, which will begin at noon.

Kickoff time at Kidd Brewer Stadium is set for 1 o’clock.

Louisiana, who has lost two-straight, fell to New Mexico St. last Saturday, 37-34, and is currently 4-6, overall, on the season, and 3-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Offensively, the Cajuns are averaging 29.3 points-per-game, along with 400.9 total yards, 191.8 rushing yards, and 209.1 passing yards, while allowing 31.3 points, 420.0 total yards, 184.7 rushing yards, and 235.3 passing yards.

Louisiana is led by junior running back Elijah McGuire, who has compiled 929 yards, along with 12 touchdowns, on 179 carries.

Appalachian St., who was idle last week, will head into the match-up at 8-2, overall, and 5-1 in league play.

Offensively, the Mountaineers are averaging 38.4 points, along with 478.1 total yards, 269.5 rushing yards, and 208.7 passing yards a contest, while allowing 18.5 points, 320.5 total yards, 185.8 passing yards, and 134.7 rushing yards.

Appalachian St. is paced by senior running back Marcus Cox, who has rushed for 991 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The Mountaineers defeated the Cajuns last season, winning 35-16 in Lafayette.
