Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team recorded a non-conference road victory on Wednesday evening, defeating the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 89-80, in Ruston, Louisiana.

Louisiana led at halftime, 44-39, and then outscored Louisiana Tech, 45-41 in the second half, as they went on to the 9-point win.

The Cajuns were out-rebounded by Louisiana Tech, 47-44, but out-shot the Bulldogs from the floor, 49%-42%.

Kasey Shepard came off the bench for his best collegiate performance, scoring a career-high 22 points on 8-10 shooting from the field.

Shawn Long and Elfrid Payton were solid as usual as each scored 17 points. Long had a game-high 12 rebounds, while Payton added 10.

Xavian Rimmer also had another strong game for the Cajuns, contributing 15 points off the bench.

In a losing cause for Louisiana Tech, Alex Hamilton scored 17 points.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 6-2 on the young season, while the Bullldogs dropped to 6-2.

The Cajuns return to action on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Louisville Cardinals.
