As Hurricane Harvey approaches the Texas coast officials in Cameron Parish have issued a mandatory evacuation for some some citizens.

The evacuation will be in effect for all areas south of the Intracoastal Waterway as of 6 a.m. Friday morning. The evacuation area includes the communities of Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, Holly Beach, Cameron, Creole, Grand Chenier and Big Lake.

Officials in the parish are warning those not in the evacuation zone to make final preparations. Those in areas prone to flooding should continue to monitor the storm very closely.

Again, it is never too early to prepare for this storm. The storms projected path after making landfall in Texas is still uncertain.
