The Carencro Police Department is advising motorists to avoid the city due to flooding.

Several roads have been closed throughout the city due to rising water and some homes are only taking in water because motorists are creating wakes as they drive through the water.

Carencro Police Chief David Anderson tells KATC that some people are currently being rescued from homes and has asked that those with loved ones in Carencro avoid driving in to check on them.

If anyone needs assistance due to the flood, call 9-1-1.
