Carrie Underwood is healing well after taking a scary fall in late 2017 that left her with more than 40 stitches in her face, and during a recent visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the country star explained why she was so upfront about the accident when it happened.

“I feel like I do [look different] a little bit,” she admitted. “My biggest worry at the time was like, if I say nothing then later on…I feel like people are gonna say, ‘What has she done to herself electively?’ And it definitely was not a choice.”

“I feel close to myself,” Carrie added. “I feel pretty close to normal.”

Though 2017 was a little rocky, 2018 is looking up for the 35-year-old singer. Last month, Underwood revealed that she's pregnant with her second child, despite suffering from several miscarriages. She also recently released her latest album, Cry Pretty, which she'll be touring on beginning in Spring 2019.
