Every year on September 11th, it is nearly impossible to look at the visual date on a calendar and not think of the events that took place on that tragic day back in 2001. Regardless of the conspiracy theories, or any reasoning behind why such a tragedy took place - it was a cowardly attack on our country and our freedom, and innocent lives were lost.

U.S. Congressman Dr. Charles Boustany was in the HOT 107-9 studio this morning to discuss what measures both state and local governments have taken in preparation for Hurricane Isaac. Dr. Boustany further explained why Lafayette Parish declared a state of emergency prior to the storm arriving.

Members of the Hot Crew were back on the UL Campus today to take part in the annual "Block Party" hosted by the University as a way of saying Welcome Back to all of the students. The event was held on St. Mary street this year, and seemed very promising---until the skies opened up over the campus.

Hot 107-9 and Meche's Donut King in Broussard teamed-up on Tuesday morning and delivered donuts to UL students waiting for the bus at Cajun Field. We showed up at Cajun Field at 8am with 10-dozen donuts and served donuts to those students waiting for their ride to campus.

The American Idol Live! Tour made a stop in Lafayette, LA yesterday and put on one heck of a show in front of a sold-out Cajundome crowd! American Idol winner Phillip Phillips rocked the stage. Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez serenaded south Louisiana with her smooth vocals, along with great performances from all of the Idol finalists.

2Paul's BBQ has quickly become a staple in Lafayette when it comes to dining out and when it comes to getting your hands on some delicious BBQ. 2Paul's is located off of Johnston St near Albertson's at South College. I had the pleasure of sampling a few of their entrees and was pleasantly surprised by the desert they offer at 2Paul's BBQ.

La Fonda is known for it's atmosphere, great mexican food, and lunches on Friday that end up spilling into Happy Hour. Located just of Johnston St. this amazing restaurant has been a staple in Lafayette for close to 40 years now. I had the pleasure of being served by Ronnie, one of the best in the biz, who has been at La Fonda almost as long as their doors have been open.

We throw the hottest party everything Thursday night at Outlaws, but this Thursday we took 'MONSTER NIGHT' to the beach with a 4th of July Weekend Beach Party. There was no sand. There was no sun. There was no ocean waves - but you all dressed the part with bikinis, board shorts and everything in between...

For my first adventure in the Eat Lafayette campaign, I couldn't have picked a better diamond.  Cafe Habana City not only has great food and amazing service, but the killer summer atmosphere is also a plus.  If you didn't have a chance to go to the beach this summer, consider this your vacation....5 minutes from home.

My first dine-around this year for the 2012 Eat Lafayette campaign was at Rachael's Cafe on Republic Ave. Located right next to Bob's Pub off Kaliste Saloom the restaurant was right in the middle of everything, but ducked off just enough for it to be the perfect hideaway for a great meal.
