To stand or not to stand has been the question for many athletes who are protesting the racial inequalities in the United States by taking a knee or a seat during the National Anthem. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to initiate the silent protest and has been joined by many others throughout the world of sports, with Chris Brown the latest to participate.

As seen in the video above, which was captured by TMZ, Brown stays seated during a performance of the Anthem by fellow R&B singer Tank, even as he pleads with those who may have thought of protesting to reconsider given the circumstances of the day. Both Brown and Tank were participating in a charity basketball game held Sunday, on the 15th Anniversary of September 11.

CB has responded to the coverage of his protest, posting a screengrabbed headline, writing "Stay classy!" though he doesn't comment any further. Brown had posted his support for Kaepernick to Instagram in a since deleted post that read "Proud of my brother for actually trying to be the change by setting the example."

Hip-hop has otherwise been somewhat split on Kaepernick's conversation starting actions, with J. Cole wearing the QB's jersey on stage earlier this month. Fat Joe meanwhile said just last week that he couldn't support Kaepernick and those protesting with him. The 49ers take on the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football tonight at 10:20 p.m. EST.
