Coastal Carolina gave the Big South Conference something to remember them by.

The Chanticleers, who become members of the Sun Belt Conference at midnight tonight, finished their improbable run through the postseason, defeating 4-3 Arizona to win the College World Series Thursday afternoon in Omaha, NE.

Coastal (55-18) turned a two out error into a four run inning in the sixth, breaking up a pitchers' duel and breaking the game open.

Arizona started Bobby Dalbec (11-6) faced the minimum over the first four innings and took a two hitter into the sixth.  But Dalbec walked #9 hitter David Parrett to open the sixth and Anthony Marks sacrificed him to second.  Michael Paez walked and Connor Owings struck out, with the runners moving up on a wild pitch.  Zach Remillard then grounded to second, but Cody Ramer booted it, allowing Parrett to score and then threw wildly to third, allowing Paez to score.  G. K. Young then belted a two run homer to right field to give the Chanticleers four unearned runs and a 4-0 lead before Cameron Ming got the final out of the inning.

The Wildcats (49-23) cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning, however, when Coastal starter Andrew Beckwith (15-1) walked Cesar Salazar with one out.  After J. J. Matejevic popped up for the second out,  Kyle Lewis reached on an error by first baseman Kevin Woodall, Jr.  Alfonso Rivas walked to load the bases and Jared Oliva got the Wildcats on the board by lacing an 0-2 pitch to left for a two run single.  Bobby Homes came in from the bullpen to relieve Beckwith and struck out Louis Boyd to stop the threat.

Alex Cunningham, who had been scheduled to start the championship game had it not been postponed last night, came on in the seventh for just his fifth relief appearance of the season.  He got through the seventh and eighth, but walked Boyd with one out.  Ramer singled and Gibbons hit a sacrifice fly to get the Wildcats within a run.  Ryan Aguilar then sliced a ball that hit just inside the chalk in deep left, scoring Boyd and putting the winning run in scoring position.  Cunningham struck out Ryah Haug on a 3-2 pitch to end it.  It was Cunningham earned his first save of the season.

Arizona had threatened in the second with a pair of one out hits but did not score and Coastal caught a break in the third when Ramer singled and went to third on a two base error by Owings.  Zach Gibbons then grounded one that Beckwith fielded from the third base side of the mound and Ramer appeared to beat the throw to the plate but was called out.
