Community Celebration Is Set To Honor The Life Of Mickey Shunick
The family of Mickey Shunick has announced that there will be a celebration of life ceremony at Parc International, in downtown Lafayette, on Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon to 5 p.m. The event will be free to attend and there will be plenty of entertainment on-stage throughout the day.The event will have several speakers on hand to honor Mickey, including City-Parish President Joey Durel. The family of Mickey is expected to speak at the event as they will recognize everyone who stayed by their mission...To Bring Mickey Home!! Food and beverages will be served at the celebration—PLEASE leave the ice chests at home. Lawn chairs are encouraged for the event as seating is limited inside the park.
In addition to all of the speakers and entertainment on stage, there will also be a public art wall on display inside the park. If anyone is interested in contributing to the art wall or wishes to volunteer for this event please e-mail your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
Mickey Shunick was abducted and murdered by Brandon Scott Lavergne on May 19th. Her body was later recovered in a remote location in Evangeline Parish. After striking a plea deal, Lavergne is now serving two life sentences in the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola for the murders of Shunick and Lisa Ann Pate.
