On Sunday, Cris Carter delivered an emotional speech on domestic violence and child abuse while on the set of ESPN's "NFL Countdown."

Carter, who had off-field trouble himself in the early part of his career, suggested that the NFL should remove all players from the field that are currently addressing legal issues with abuse. He said, "We don’t respect no women. We don’t respect no kids...Take them off the field because they respect that.

As you can hear in this video, it sounds like Cris too was abused as a child, and says that even his own mother made mistakes. But the passion in his voice here is something special, and maybe more veterans need to speak up as Cris has in order to protect what they built.

This all comes after Ray Rice was seen punching his then fiancee in an elevator, and after allegations that NFL running back Adrian Peterson physically abused his son.
