A popular New Orleans hot dog spot has their sights set on a Lafayette location.

Dat Dog is one of the hottest new restaurants in the Big Easy, opening a total of four restaurants in New Orleans since they were established in 2011.

From your traditional wiener, to crawfish sausage, their concoctions almost seem limitless—and now, in addition to opening up new locations in Baton Rouge and Hattiesburg, they are looking to bring their dogs to Lafayette.

When the very first Dat Dog location opened, Chelsea Brauwn was working in the grill in the 400-square-foot "shed." Now she is Dat Dog's director of marketing.

We love the idea of coming to Lafayette. We love the people and the culture. We're looking at a couple of different properties in Lafayette.

What is really cool about all four New Orleans Dat Dog locations is that the decor in each space reflects the neighborhood that it resides in as the hot dog joint aims to cater to the unique people who live around the restaurant.

According to The Advertiser, the idea to open a location in Lafayette comes from a friendship the hot dog restaurant has formed with Bayou Teche Brewing in Arnaudville.

Dat Dog had its Christmas party at the brewery, and Bayou Teche Brewing recently began crafting a special brew for Dat Dog called Dat Biere.

There is no information on where the Lafayette location may be, but if Dat Dog loves the culture here, then we'll gladly trade them for hot dogs.
