Data Room Fire At UL’s Baker Hall

Around 9:30 Sunday morning, UL Lafayette Police were notified of a fire in the data room of Baker Hall on UL’s campus.

Police say all students in the dorm were evacuated, and no one was injured by the fire.

A data equipment closet on the third floor along with some rooms below that area have water damage.

The area which caught fire is in the rear of the residence hall in the courtyard area.

University officials are working to see if any students we have to be moved while the work is done with repairs and cleanup.

Data and phone service are affected on both the third and fourth floors, and officials say they are not sure how long those services will be down.

The fire is still under investigation.
