Revelers at Ultra Music Festival in Miami got a surprise over the weekend when Madonna took the stage to introduce EDM star Avicii. The legendary pop singer recently dropped her new album 'MDNA' this week, but it was Madonna's reference to MDMA that pissed off one of EDM's biggest superstars. For those who don't know, EDM is short for Electronic Dance Music. Some people call it "techno," but EDM is the much more proper way to describe it. As a matter of fact, any dance music enthusiast, including myself, cringes at the term "techno." (Eww)

Another thing that EDM lovers cringe it, is the general idea that drug use is what goes hand in hand with electronic music. Madonna was slammed by EDM superstar Deadmau5 (the DJ with the Mickey Mouse looking head thingy) after she took the stage in front of thousands to introduce Avicii and asked "How many people have seen Molly?"

For those who may not know, "Molly" is slang for MDMA, one of the key ingredients found in ecstasy, a drug that is insanely popular with people in the EDM community. The crowd went wild, erupting in cheer, while Deadmau5 went directly to his Facebook page and ripped Madge a new one. (Warning: Tons of NSFW Language ahead)

Mr. Mau5 eventually regained his social composure and offered a more thought out explanation on his stance regarding the whole Madonna MDMA rant via his personal blog. The blog entry is cleverly titled 'Responsibility,' and it's hella long, but you can read it here.

In the meantime, check out the video and tell us who's side you're on. Is Deadmau5 totally justified in his criticism of Madonna exploiting the EDM scene, or was Madge just pointing out the obvious? (MDMA reference kicks in at 0:45)
