Have you ever read the eight-digit serial number on your dollar bill? I'm going to guess, no you haven't. I haven't either. We just pass them along to the  next person.

After reading this you'll never look at a dollar bill the same way again. That dollar bill you used today could be worth thousands.

The website CoolSerialNumbers.com in Nashville is looking for certain patterns and rare series of numbers. The website is offering people who have bills with rare serial numbers the chance to cash them in for sometimes thousands of dollars. Below is what they are looking for.

  •  Double quads on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 00009999)
  •  7 of a kind on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 00010000, 99999099)
  • Super repeaters on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 67676767)
  • 7 repeating digits in a row on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 09999999, 77777776)

There are even some $1 bills with the serial number 00000002 selling for $2,500 . That's chump change. If you can find a $5 bill with the number 33333333, that one goes for $13,000.

The web site Cool Serial Numbers has a display of the bills they're looking for on Google. You can see them by clicking here.

Go check your wallet now that $1 bill could pay your next bill. LOL! (you saw what I did there?)
