Downtown Lafayette is showing solidarity with the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting by painting the "Lafayette" letters to support the LBGT community.

First and foremost, the victims of the shooting were Americans—but many are showing their support for Orlando's LBGT community in the wake of Pulse—a gay nightclub—being rocked by gunfire that claimed nearly 50 innocent lives and injured 53 more.

Monuments and landmarks all over the world, including the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, have shown similar support as many try to begin the healing process after this senseless tragedy.

The letters will be the backdrop of a candlelight vigil tonight (6/14) at Parc Sans Souci.
