UPDATE:

XXL can confirm that neither Rap-A-Lot Records, YEMG or OVO are affiliated with Marquis Trill, and have not authorized this documentary.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Drake has had a long, illustrious career, working his way up from modest popularity to absolute superstardom. An upcoming documentary, Toronto to Houston, is a walk through Drake's life, from Jas Prince discovering him, to his current spot as one of the biggest rappers alive.

Toronto to Houston creator MarQuis Trill shared the trailer for the doc on his Instagram account today (Jan. 9). Along with the doc, which contains various parts of Drake's career including live shows, news updates and behind-the-scenes footage of his personal life, Trill shared the details of how he secured a full doc with the OVO leader.

"People always ask 'How did you get started,'' Marquis reveals in the video's caption. "Well one way was filming @Champagnepapi in Houston, Tx. Every concert, event, club, or appearance that happened in H-Town, I was there. 2018 marks the 5th year anniversary of 'Houston Appreciation Weekend.' To understand what Houston Appreciation Weekend, a.k.a #HAW, is all about, you have to go back to its origin. I’m talking 2009, as Drake was rising to the top of the music world.

"He credits Houston for the culture and the impact it had on him with launching his career - specifically on May 8, 2009, the show at Warehouse Live. Hope everyone enjoys my artistic documentary."

It hasn't been confirmed if this visual is Drake-endorsed, but that should clear up soon. Trill also tweeted that the documentary will premiere this summer.

In other news, Drake has been making his rounds around Hollywood recently. He snapped a pic with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown at the Golden Globes Netflix after party, and spent some time with a few other actors, including Alfre Woodard. He was also a guest at Nicole Murphy's 50th birthday party; she recently appeared in one of the ads for Virginia Black, a whiskey that Drake owns.
