If the rumors of a Drake and Future mixtape collaboration are true, summer needs to start all over again so we can properly experience the music.

Talk of the joint project began Thursday (Sept. 10), after DJ Skee tweeted "damn 2 people about to break the internet tomorrow with this mixtape coming out of left field." OVO artist OB OBrien was one of many people who posted the possible cover art of the tape on social media (he's since deleted it). The rumored cover art features an owl (Drake's signature OVO mascot) dipped in a dripping purple liquid (aka that lean) over a heart similar to what appears on Future's Beast Mode cover.

Power 105. 1 radio personality Angela Yee almost seemed to spill the beans on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (Sept. 8) when Charlamagne tha God mentioned that Meek Mill may have different feelings about Future in the coming months. "What, when Drake and Future..." was all Yee said but Charlamagne wouldn't cater to her beguile and said, "Shut up Yee. Jesus Christ."

Some industry peeps have been fueling the fire as well. "Super secret Drake & Future mixtape drops tomorrow. Yeah I'm telling secrets," tweeted Skee TV's brand manager, Mike Chehade, along with an emoji of two peering eyes. Rapper Louie V. Gutta also seemed to be in on the know when he tweeted ,"but rap game bout to light up! My 2 fav rappers right now bout to break the Internet I promise!"

This will be far from the first time the two have collaborated. Most recently, the If You're Reading This It's Too Late creator hopped on Future's Dirty Sprite 2 for "Where Ya At." But in the past, Drake's also shown up on the "Tony Montana (Remix)" and "Never Satisfied." They've also made an appearance on P Reign's "DnF" and Lil Wayne's "Love Me."

Future Hive and Drake stans are anxiously awaiting this collaboration but many believe it's too good to be true.

"Rappers be lying. Yall can believe Future and Drake, Lupe-Kanye-Pharrell, Nas and Premo, and Cole and Kendrick if you want," tweeted one rap fan.

But others are still holding out hope and predicting a shut down of all things non-Drake and Future related.

"Future x Drake tape gonna shut everything down tomorrow. Highways gonna be jammed, all the bread and water gonna be gone from the grocer," tweeted a member of the Future Hive. "if drake and future drop a joint mixtape tomorrow dont call me until sunday comes. lol," wrote another.

Comedian Hannibal Burress even got in on the excitement while tweeting an ironic role reversal for the rappers: "It would be great if Drake mumbled all of his verses and Future enunciated all of his on this new mixtape."

There's no word from Drake or Future's camp yet on whether a mixtape is on the way. While hip-hop fans twiddle their collective fingers, check out the madness that erupted on Twitter after rumors of collaboration began below.
