My first dine-around this year for the 2012 Eat Lafayette campaign was at Rachael's Cafe on Republic Ave. Located right next to Bob's Pub off Kaliste Saloom the restaurant was right in the middle of everything, but ducked off just enough for it to be the perfect hideaway for a great meal.

The first thing I found out was that unbeknownst to me, the proper pronunciation was "Rah-shelles" and not "Ray-Chuls." I also had the privilege of being served by Rachael herself, who couldn't have been any sweeter. This place oozed with a down-home feeling, from the service to the decor - and of course, the food. I even had a chance to go behind the scenes in the kitchen and meet the chefs responsible for the great cooking (who also happened to be Rachael's family members.)

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a great meal that you would normally find in a culture infused eatery in one of Lafayette's small surrounding towns, Rachael's Cafe is right up your alley. Check out the video, and stop by for a great meal - and don't forget to register for a free cruise from Eat Lafayette!
