Eminem's ex-wife Kim Mathers is in the news for all the wrong reasons today. The Detroit News reports that the former love of Slim Shady and mother to his daughter Hailie called into a local Detroit radio station Mojo in the Morning this morning (May 4) to clear up rumors surrounding her recent DUI.

“I did this on purpose, and I’m so sorry. I never lied to (first responders). I told them everything that I did,” Kim admitting on-air, adding, “I didn’t expect to make it out alive.”

Last October, Mathers, 41, crashed on the 23 Mile and Card roads in Macomb County, Mich. Her black Escalade flipped, crashed into a utility pole and landed upside down. Police reports on the crash say that Mathers admitted to drinking a fifth of Malibu rum before getting behind the wheel.

"I sat at the end of a road where I knew no one else but myself would get hurt. Yes, I drank, I took pills and I aimed for a pole."

Radio host Mojo asked if Eminem has been supporting her during her struggle with depression and addiction.

“He’s been real supportive. We’re really close friends," said Kim. "We’re just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible.”

Em and Kim's relationship has been up and down for years, especially in the wake of his fame. Eminem has notoriously rapped about Kim many times on wax, most notably on the song fittingly titled "Kim" off 2000's The Marshall Mathers LP. The couple were high school sweethearts and married in 1999 but divorced in 2001. They were briefly remarried in 2006.
