Fox’s hit drama Empire is unstoppable. Since its Jan. 7 debut, viewership has increased at record numbers and shows no signs of slowing down. In past interviews, the show’s co-creator, Lee Daniels, cited iconic nighttime dramas like Dynasty as his influence for the series.

So the creative minds at New York Magazine's Vulture decided to recreate the opening sequence of Empire with that of ABC’s iconic soap opera drama. The end result is pure internet gold. If you are a fan of Dynasty, you will absolutely love this.

The beauty of the clip is that the music and the direction of Dynasty’s opening theme fits perfectly in the present-day world of the Lyons Family. Let’s face it: Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are the black Blake and Krystle Carrington.

Props to New York magazine video editor Louis Plamondon for reimagining the opening sequence for Empire. Honestly, it’s better than the show’s current opener.

The late Aaron Spelling, who created Dynasty, would be very proud. Watch it above.
