Additional Information

The first Games of Acadiana (GOA) was held in 2001 with the hope of raising money to make a difference in the lives of individuals fighting cancer. Today, GOA has become the largest fundraiser for Miles Perret Cancer Services. Featuring over sixty games and activities including Life-Sized Angry Birds, Home Run Derby and Hula Hoop, this family-centered event appeals to all age groups.

This year's commemorative poster features the theme Play with a Purpose, and was created by local student and artist Cindy Tee. Cindy is currently a student at UL Lafayette working on a degree in Graphic Design. She volunteers at Redeemer City Church, bringing her creativity and humanity to the table to better serve her community.

"It has been a joy and honor to join hands with Miles Perret Cancer Services in creating the 2017 Games of Acadiana poster. Stepping foot into this opportunity, my aim was to create a piece that communicates clearly what the Games of Acadiana is all about, which lead me to the mission, vision, and core values of Miles Perret. In the 2017 poster, Milesy stands before a treasure chest, overflowing with hope, support, healing, faith, and love. These are words that Miles Perret not only cherishes but aspires to share by providing services that help families fight, survive, and live with cancer, at no charge. Miles Perret Cancer Services is able to lift families up largely by the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, and participants of Games of Acadiana. The treasure within the chest captures what makes up the Games of Acadiana and more so serves as a catalyst for spreading joy, bringing the community together, and changing lives.”
-Cindy Tee

It is in this way that Cindy's core values alight with that of the Miles Perret Cancer Services; they both believe in the important role that support, volunteering, and fundraising play in helping bring hope and healing to victims and their families.
