The opposition to a Drag Queen Story Time event at the main branch of the Lafayette Parish Library was swift and the group at the heart of it is a new UL Lafayette fraternity. Delta Lambda Phi is a social fraternity for the LGBTQ+ community at UL.

After conversations yesterday, Delta Lambda Phi members Brad Parfait and Jeffrey Sykes agreed to come on Acadiana's Morning News and explain what their purpose was when organizing the event. When asked if the event will go on, both Parfait and Sykes were unsure but hoped it would.

We started getting calls into the KPEL newsroom on Sunday about an item in the library newsletter called Drag Queen Story Time. As many things go in 2018, social media went wild and the debate began. The issue that seemed to come up more than anything was the suggestion that the event was geared toward 3 to 6-year-olds and their families.
