Video of a father telling his 8-year-old son his mother died from a heroin overdose is going viral as some are saying the moment should not have been shared publicly.

Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark posted the video to his page with a message explaining why he chose to share video of the moment he told his son that his mother passed away.

THIS FOR ANY AND EVERY ADDICT WITH CHILDREN. TODAY I HAD TO TELL MY 8 YEAR OLD SON THAT HIS MOMMY DIED FROM A DRUG OVERDOSE LAST NIGHT. THIS IS THE REALIZATION AND REALITY OF OUR DISEASE. DONT LET THIS DISEASE HAVE TO MAKE SOMEONE TELL YOUR CHILD THAT YOUR DEAD BECAUSE OF DRUGS. THIS WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS IVE EVER HAD TO DO. MY SON HAS NO MOTHER BECAUSE OF HEROIN... KINDA HARD TO HEAR BUT U CAN HEAR WHAT WE'RE SAYING.
PLEASE GET HELP SO OUR CHILDREN DONT HAVE TO SUFFER. THIS WASNT STAGED. THIS WAS REAL. I HAD SOMEONE RECORD THIS SO ADDICTS WITH CHILDREN CAN SEE THE SERIOUSNES OF OUR EPIDEMIC. I AM A RECOVERING ADDICT MYSELF WITH 94 DAYS CLEAN TODAY... PLEASE SHARE N MAYBE HELP SAVE A CHILDS PARENTS LIFE.

The child is seen sobbing and is consoled by another adult.

Clark stated that he was a recovering addict, and while his reasoning behind sharing the video was for other addicts to realize what they are doing to their children, many feel that he didn't have to tell the young boy exactly how his mother died and that posting the video for all to see is shameful for the young boy.

Some supporters believe the video may help addicts see the hurt and pain they cause loved ones while others simply said they would pray for the young boy and his family.

The video has 16 million views and over 450,000 shares at the time of this post.
