FIFA has banned athletes from wearing Beats by Dre headphones at the World Cup.

FIFA announced that they would not allow athletes to wear the headphones in stadiums or at media events because they, FIFA, have a licensing agreement with Sony Corp. FIFA has gone as far as to give every athlete participating in the World Cup a free pair of the new Sony headphones.

This isn't the first time a major sporting event dictates what athletes can and cannot wear at events. In 2012, the governing body of The Olympics did not allow it's athletes to wear Beats by Dre. They too handed out another company's product for athletes to wear.
