A five hour standoff took place yesterday between Lafayette Police and a man who barricaded himself inside a home in Lafayette.

According to Corporal Bridgette P. Dugas, Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of Benton Drive in reference to a domestic-related home invasion.

Upon officers' arrival, 36-year-old Shawn Chaisson fled the scene and was found barricaded inside a home in the 200 block of C.O. Circle. He was believed to be armed and dangerous

After several hours of negotiation, the suspect was apprehended without incident.

He was then transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and later released and brought to the Lafayette Correctional Center.

Chaisson was charged with one count of home invasion.
