Kodak Black is one of the hottest up-and-comers in today's game. Now, The Daily Dot is reporting that a white Florida teen is facing backlash for dressing up as Kodak for the school's "Character Day."

Claire Kempe, 17, attends Countryside High School in Clearwater, Fla. Kempe, a senior, dressed up as her favorite artist for the school spirit day. However, she wasn't expecting to get negative feedback for her outfit once she posted a photo to Twitter. In the picture, she's rocking a "Free Kodak" t-shirt, cut-off jean jacket, camouflage pants, grills, gold chain, bantu knots, styrofoam cups and "Project Baby" tattoos.

Many people on social media are calling the bantu knots cultural appropriation, because the 'cut is a symbol of Black pride that can be "traced back to the African desert," according to The Daily Dot.

Kempe tells The Daily Dot, “People kept saying it was racist. I had never even heard of bantu knots until today—I thought I was just doing Kodak’s hairstyle. Racism is still a big issue, but they don’t know it’s an issue that I care about. They don’t know me or who I hang out with or what I do." While there has been a lot of negative backlash, there has also been some positive responses. You can view a couple of the more positive viewpoints on the situation below.
