The folks at Foodnet are asking for help replenishing the area food bank. The downturn in Acadiana's economy has brought a drop in donations while demand has increased. KATC reports, summer is actually a time of peak demand, with kids out of school for the summer & not being served lunch at school. In addition to people losing jobs, some Acadiana residents are having their hours cut back, leaving families short on grocery money after paying household bills. More food is currently leaving the bank than what's currently coming in. They're particularly in need of proteins like tuna & peanut butter. Donations can be dropped off at the Surrey St. location Mon., Wed., & Fri., from 8 am to 1 pm.
