Original Story:

Frank Ocean has announced his first show dates in three years. The Blond artist is all set to headline the Danish music festival NorthSide on June 9 of next year and BBC notes that he's performing at the Lovebox music fest in London on July 14.

These will be Ocean's first shows since releasing Endless and Blond. Naturally, fans will be really happy to hear him perform all of his new music live for the the first time, though Ocean has yet to announce any new shows in the U.S. It may seem odd that Ocean hasn't performed in such a long time, but if we've learned anything about him—other than the fact that he's spectacularly talented—it's that he's always willing to do his own thing. He reminded us all of that fact a few weeks ago when he told The New York Times why he is skipping next year's Grammy's.

“I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated,” Ocean says in the piece. “I’d rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.” Kaepernick, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, made headlines this year by sitting and then kneeling during the National Anthem as a form of protest against racial inequality.

“That institution certainly has nostalgic importance,” he said of the Grammy’s. “It just doesn’t seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.”
