Yesterday (Jan. 17), Future dropped a new mixtape titled Purple Reign out of the blue. Or was it? The release of the new project, executive produced by Metro Boomin and DJ Esco, coincided with the day of the N.F.L. playoff game between the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks, who are quarterbacked by Russell Wilson, Future's baby mama, Ciara's new beau . And things didn't go to well for Russ or his team who were down a whopping 31 points at halftime.

Whether the mixtape release was a coincidence or not, the Internet (most notably the Future Hive) ran with it. During the entire game hip-hop heads and Hendrix fans took to Twitter to bring up the point of Future's new project dropping on the same day Wilson and his team got blown out of the water. Memes and purple umbrella Emoji's started popping up everywhere as well as conspiracy theories that Future put an end to Seattle's season.

The Seahawks ended up coming back to within a touchdown in the second half only to lose 31-24. Wilson finished the game 31-48, throwing for 366 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Not a supremely bad game, but the damage was already done.

Future and Wilson have had their issues in the past. But Mr. Dirty Sprite has said he really doesn't care about Ciara's relationship with the football player. So there's no way this was calculated, right?
