It's truly a double edged sword of good news and bad news. The good news is the average price for a gallon of gas is less than two dollars. The bad news is that gas is less than two dollars a gallon. Such is the paradox of the state of Louisiana. While motorist love seeing the low gas prices, the oil industry that many of us depend on is suffering because prices are so low.

According to the website Gasbuddy.com the average price for a gallon of gas is also below two dollars per gallon in South Carolina, Mississippi, and Alabama. With an average price of $1.99 a gallon in Louisiana.

That obviously means that you also have quite a few stations well below that and the lowest in the state right now is $1.67

That's what Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Lakoski told the Louisiana Radio Network. He went on to say that some stations in West Monroe are offering fuel for as low as $1.67 a gallon. That is quite a change from one year ago.

A year ago, we saw a national average at $3.36 a gallon and in Louisiana we were paying $3.12 a gallon.

Analyst predict prices will continue to remain low or even get lower for the remainder of the year and into early 2016.
