While we continue to dodge pot holes on our roadways in south Louisiana, glow-in-the-dark roads are debuting in the Netherlands. Yes, the roads actually glow-in-the-dark and street lights are now a thing of the past highway N329.

The markings on these futuristic roadways absorb daylight and then emit a glow during the nighttime hours. Wait, there is more, these roadways will also notify drivers where ice pockets are during freezing conditions on the roadway. Imagine you are driving down a road and you see an illumination ahead indicating you are approaching an ice pocket.

The company that is behind this futuristic project says that it has yet to secure any future contracts for it's project, but hopes to do so in the near future once a few details on the paint is ironed out and improved upon.

Would you feel comfortable driving on such roadways, or do you think this will be just another distraction to drivers? While it looks really cool to me, I bet those leaving the clubs at 2am would REALLY find such an illumination to be really wicked!!
