Gov. John Bel Edwards announced today that 2,000 new jobs will be created as DXC Technology will open a digital transformation center in January of 2018 in New Orleans.

Edwards says this has been in the works for over two years and is a great addition to the state.

“This is a $25 billion company with a 60 year history in computer science, technology and business consulting, with thousands of clients all around the globe both public and private.”

DXC is a Virginia based company and is part of the CSC and Hewlett-Packard technology company. Edwards says LED estimates that another 2,257 indirect jobs will be created from this project. He says the two-thousand direct jobs will pay an average salary of $63,000 plus benefits and the economic benefits are unmatched.

“From 2018 to 2025, this project will generate more than $64 million in Louisiana taxes and total economic output of more than $3.2 billion.”

Edwards says Louisiana will invest $25 million in higher education grants through the LSU, UL, and Technical and Community College Systems to ensure qualified workers can fill these new positions. He says this project is one of the most significant economic development announcements in Louisiana history.

“This will be a victory that we’re going to celebrate for a long time and we’re going to look back at New Orleans’ tricentennial year as a true turning point for the city and an area of new greatness for the state of Louisiana.”
