If you thought that we were going to get a break this week with the extreme temperatures in Acdiana, you're wrong. We're actually going to start the week under a heat advisory for most of south Louisiana.

Temperatures will climb back into the mid-to-upper 90s, with the heat index perhaps reaching has high as 108. Yes, the heat wave has not gone anywhere.

According to Dave Baker at KATC-TV 3, "An upper level ridge of high pressure has been stagnant for the past week and an half and shows no signs of weakening."

The hottest time of the year for this area is usually towards the end of July and into the beginning of August. Hopefully by next week we'll see more rain in the forecast, thus cooler temps could sweep across the area. But for now---its going to be HOT!!!

We remind you, please take of your pets outdoors by supplying them with plenty of water and shade. Also, don't forget about your kids. NEVER leave your kids, or pets for that matter, in the car. Temperatures soar within a vehicle as soon as the car or truck is turned off.

Continue to hydrate yourself throughout the day, and remember if you're working outdoors to take breaks throughout the day.
