According to Cpl. Nicole Benoit with the Lafayette Police Department, the busy intersection of Hwy. 90 at Verot School Road was shut down at 7:30 a.m.

Police continued to investigate the accident, which reportedly claimed the life of a pedestrian, Benoit said.
