The 2017 XXL Freshman cover has officially been revealed and this year's roster is causing quite the stir online. As usual, the hip-hop world held nothing back when discussing the newest crop of artists who were chosen for this year's cover.

The 2017 XXL Freshman Class consists of 10 artists each representing a little something different. The creative diversity is a testament to where hip-hop is headed. This year's class consists of The Bay Area’s Kamaiyah, The Bronx’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Philadelphia’s PnB Rock, Tokyo representer Madeintyo, Atlanta’s Playboi Carti, Portland’s Aminé, Atlanta’s Kap G, Ventura, Calif.’s Kyle; Houston’s Ugly God and this year's fan-voted Freshman, 10th Spot winner XXXTentacion.

With 2017 marking the 10th anniversary of the Freshman franchise, the hype leading up to the cover reveal was bigger than ever. Once the cover dropped, fans—and haters—on social media went crazy in response. Some fandoms cheered seeing their favorite rapper make it while others were upset that their favorite was left out.

But fans weren't the only ones getting vocal. Plenty of rappers, whether they made the cover or not, got online to express their opinions on this Freshman Class. Even hip-hop elders like Pharrell, Swizz Beatz and A-Trak chimed in.
