Few would argue that the spray-tanned, streaked exploits of Snooki, The Situation and the rest of the ‘Jersey Shore’ gang have been good for New Jersey’s already mixed reputation.

Perhaps that’s why Hoboken, NJ’s mayor Dawn Zimmer has shot down plans for a ‘Jersey Shore’ spinoff, which would’ve seen JWoww and Snooki renting an apartment in the city.

Saying she was surprised that the yet-to-be named show’s producers had started filming without her permission or permits, Zimmer demanded in a letter that MTV stop production, and added that any attempts to “bribe” local merchants into allowing them to shoot would be met with “zero tolerance.” (Corruption in New Jersey, no way!)

Perhaps Long Island could double for Jersey. It’s not like the ‘Jersey Shore’ gang is really from the Garden State anyway.
